We recommend washing your brushes before your first use for removal of any dyes or loose tiny hairs that might still be trapped in the brush at time of processing since our high quality brushes will not continue to shed after a few washings.
Use a gentle shampoo to clean your brushes and swirl in your hand for even soap coverage. Do not wash against the hair, only wash with the hair. Do not flare bristles like a fountain under the water or while forcing soap through them. Squeeze clear water through bristles until it runs clean. Continue this until it is rinsed thoroughly.
If it is a Kabuki you are cleaning, spread out a towel and dry it by squeezing out excess water with a paper towel and then swirling on towel as though you are buffing minerals onto your skin to get the excess water out of tips of the bristles, and to regain its’ globed shape. If you are cleaning a Duster Brush, Dome Brush or standard Eye Shading Brushes, follow same cleaning instructions; only do not swirl on towel. To regain the shape of these brushes, squeeze tightly in towel according to their natural shape to remove excess water and to bring bristles together. Allow to dry.
Wash your brushes at least once per week, preferably twice per week for the cleanest application. This will maintain their resiliency to wear and keep them in perfect condition for putting on your mineral cosmetics. Remember: All clean skin harbors a small amount of bacteria, so remember to swirl brush in minerals placed on small plate or in jar lid for the cleanest application. We do not recommend touching brush to sifter. Also keeping your brush clean, removes built up sebum that can make for a stickier application of the powders causing uneven shading and distribution of minerals.
