    Update on my previous review.

UPDATE: I actually did end up trying this shadow in the crease and by the time I buff it down and do my usual spritzing after I have my makeup on, it did not look any more shiny or shimmery than my other Sterling shadow I most often use in the crease called Cocoa. It ended up being fine and it is an interesting color to use as an alternate to the more straight up brown like cocoa. I love both. It still goes on primarily brown IMO but with a hint of mauve. Very pretty color.

Does have light amt of sparkle

Posted by Mary on 3rd Dec 2016

I struggled with how to rate this shadow and it was because of the semi-matte description despite liking the color.

First of all, concerning the color, it is as described in that it is mauve shade with a brown undertone. However, it is described as semi-matte but mine had light shimmer or sparkle or however you would describe it and the description does not say that. My other colors that say semi-matte do not have shimmer, not even light shimmer. I think the fact it does have a little bit of a shimmer should be added to description.

I do not use shadows with shimmer or sparkle in my crease so even though not excessive, I probably will not use it in my crease and that is kind of why I bought it. However, it is a pretty color so I might use it on my lid because I do usually use light shimmer shadows on my lid. Just not sure then what I will use in the crease because if I use my normal cocoa, it kind of all runs together because the two are similar in that both have a medium intensity. I may have to just use this on both lid and crease and use cameo under brow.

The color is lovely though so again I may try to incorporate it. But I wanted to let you know mine was not free of shimmer and that threw me. I debated whether to give it a 4 or a 5. For color, it probably deserves a 5 but I decided on a 4 simply because I do not consider it a straight out semi-matte when I compare it to my other shadows I have that say semi-matte like cocoa, parfait, pretty in pink, and destiny, etc.

If you do not mind having a slight shimmer, and would like a mauve/brown shadow (it is not pure mauve or pure brown but a mix of both), then this is probably for you because it is a beautiful shade.

    OUR RESPONSE

Thank you Mary for the great feedback. Semi matte finishes can vary since they are a semi and not a true matte. Some shades can have a touch more glimmer to achieve something less than matte. A little tip for reducing any shimmer you did not like, spritz the eyelid with distilled water or toner and press with your brush and this will flatten the mica platelets and give it a more matte appearance. Glad you are enjoying your minerals overall.

    Another color beauty

Little less iridescent than Illusion (which is beautiful too) wear this as my every day with Cameo under the browline. Really brightens and complements the eyes and is very natural. I am 64 with silver hair and hazel eyes.
